5G Network means fifth-generation wireless. It is the latest cellular technology put in place to increase the speed of wireless networks tremendously. Many countries have already deployed this whereas some hope and pray to get one. This article is solely on the countries that have 5G technology running and how it all began.
Prior to this, 5G technology per analysis will be responsible for 22.3 million jobs and $13.2 trillion of global economic output by 2035.
The first country is China, as the year began, fifty-seven cities including Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen had 5G. It is also considered the second country with the most cities that has 5G. In October 2019, three major wireless carriers in China launched 5G networks: China Unicom, China Mobile, and China Telecom.
Next, the country is Japan whose 5G services started as early as 25 March 2020. For Japan, it’s Communications Ministry met with the country’s three biggest earners – KDDI Corp, SoftBank Group Corp, and NTT DOCOMO Inc. as well as private-sector manufacturers of handset and base stations such as Sharp Corporation and Panasonic Corp. They also believe that 5G is close to hundred times faster than LTE which is used more often and ten times faster than 4G technology.

THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
In July 2016, the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) began making rules for 5G technology making the US the first country with a high-band spectrum for the technology. As of January 2020, 5G had been deployed in fifty cities. Atlanta, Chicago, Loss Angeles, New York City, Washington are all among cities with 5G.
In January 2020, 5G network was rolled out to eighty-five cities. The secret behind their success is the collaboration of three carriers that have worked on 5G deployment: KT Corp, SK Telecom, and LG Uplus. Government officials estimate that by 2036, 90% of Korea’s mobile phone users will be on 5G network
Other countries include the United Kingdom, Germany, and many others.
Other countries yet to have 5G include Ghana, Switzerland.
THE CASE OF GHANA NETWORK
Ghana’s case is a bit confusing as a section of its citizens feels 5G has a lot of disadvantages on the economy and another school of thought feels otherwise. Some even believe MTN will be the first telecommunications network to bring 5G networks to the country. The debate and dilemma continue and it is only time that can answer this.
