The Power 1, a 3-in-1 portable charger from Nothing, was the product’s name. It could be used as a power bank in addition to having wireless and 65W fast cable charging capabilities for phones and laptops. It was small enough to fit into the pocket of a shirt.
The Power 1 was supposed to launch after the Ear 1 wireless headphones, according to Carl Pei, CEO and founder of Nothing, when the firm had a tiny staff and few resources.
The best solution we could think of was this. We were merely bundling all these features that were already available on the market, Pei stated in a video explaining why Power 1 was never released. “Our goals are a little bit bigger in 2023, but this would have been a great product for Nothing in 2021,” he stated.
Pei states that it was difficult to persuade suppliers to offer prices that would entice customers to buy the goods. However, there were problems with the product’s actual performance.
Such a product needs to function incredibly well. It’s compact and needs to charge your goods quickly. Thus, we encountered issues with the thermals. It would overheat if we used the desired charging speed, according to Pei.
The Power 1’s durability was also a problem, as it was unable to pass Nothing’s drop testing. The corporation understood it needed to rebuild the product, but it wasn’t worthwhile to go through the entire process again. For the Nothing Power 1, that was the end of the road.
