How to Transfer money from Venmo to Bank
One of the most popular peer-to-peer (P2P) payment apps available today is called Venmo.
Below are the steps involved in transferring morning from your Venmo to your Bank account.
Initially, before you would or can be able to transfer money from your Venmo to your bank account, you would have to make sure that your account is linked to your bank account.
But if you haven’t done that so far, you don’t need to worry, this article would give you a clear understanding of how to go about it and make it easy for you to do so without seeking for external assistance.
You can skip step 3 of this post if your bank account on Venmo has already been validated but if you haven’t then start from step 1.
Step One: Add a bank account.

- By tapping your photo or initials, select “Me.”

Step Two: Verify your Bank account.

Several things could occur if your account information is incorrect:
- Your bank will not be able to find your account and your bank transfer will fail. The money may be returned to us after a few days and put back into your Venmo account, but we cannot guarantee that will happen.
- If the bank does not return the transfer, the funds may be lost. Venmo is not responsible for lost transfers as a result of incorrect bank credentials. Your bank will be the best point of contact in this scenario.
In Venmo, you can confirm your bank account in one of two ways:
Instant Verification
Providing your username and password for online banking is one way to confirm your bank account.
Plaid is used by Venmo to confirm your bank account details and frequently check your bank account balance to see if you have enough money to handle specific transactions.
You will be asked to provide your online banking login and password (or other identifying information) after choosing your bank if your bank qualifies for fast verification.
Contacting your bank is the best course of action if you run into any issues with this.
You can always manually add your bank account using your routing and account number combination in the interim.
You can easily fix this by choosing “Manual Verification” instead of “Instant Verification.”
Microtransfers
We’ll send micro transfers to your bank account (costing less than $1 apiece) to verify ownership when you manually add your bank account to Venmo (with your routing and account number).
Two little withdrawals are made from your account when we make these micro transfers, and two minor deposits are made at the same time to balance those withdrawals.
Ensure that you have $2 or more in your bank account to avoid any overdraft or other bank fees.
Within 1-3 business days, you’ll notice these deposits/debits in your bank account as distinct items on your bank statement.
Before transferring money to your bank account, we strongly advise you to verify your account to make sure the money gets there.
Due to wrongly provided bank credentials, Venmo is not liable for missing bank transfers.
Step Three: Add money to a bank account
If you’re using a computer, send money to your bank account after you’ve added and verified your bank account.
Additionally, you can use the Venmo app to deposit funds from your Venmo account to your bank instantly or through the Standard method.
Go to the “Me” page on the Venmo app, then tap the “Add or Transfer” button next to your profile image. next, take these actions to start your transfer:
- Enter or edit the amount you would like to transfer to your bank
- Tap “Instant” (for a small fee) or “1-3 Biz Days” (for no fee), and select your preferred bank account or debit card
- Confirm your transfer details, and tap the green “Transfer” button

Please be aware that transfers are subject to inspection, which might cause delays or result in money being locked or taken out of your Venmo account.
Why does adding my bank result in an error?
Make sure you’re using the correct login details if you’re trying to add your bank account using instant verification.
You may have to wait until the next day because there is a cap on the number of times you may use quick verification to add a bank account in a single day.
You might also try adding the bank account manually, but keep in mind that it will take at least one full business day to complete (and that you won’t be able to use the bank account to make payments until it is validated).
Instead, try attaching the debit card connected to your bank account if you need to submit a payment immediately away.
Why is quick transfer not possible on Venmo?
By adding it to your Venmo account, you can determine whether your bank account or credit card qualifies.
Your bank does not presently offer an instant transfer service if your bank account or debit card is offered as a payment option but is greyed out when you try to make one.
Enter or edit the amount you would like to transfer to your bank. Tap “Instant” (for a small fee) or “1-3 Biz Days” (for no fee), and select your preferred bank account or debit card. Confirm your transfer details, and tap the green “Transfer” button.

Venmo transfers require time.
Normally, transfers take one to three days to reach users’ bank accounts, but Venmo notes that delays could occur due to reviews.
It could be a major issue if your rent is due and you can’t access your money.
You can withdraw money from your Venmo account in one of two ways: Instantaneous transfer to a debit card or qualifying bank account. This kind of transfer has a 1.75% fee and normally takes 30 minutes to arrive (a fee of $0.25 minimum and $25 maximum is deducted from each transfer’s total).
