Customers have voiced concerns about overheating with Apple’s new iPhone 15 models, with some saying the titanium frame is too hot to hold. some of the complaints regarding the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max on the community forum of the iPhone manufacturer indicate that the devices are overheating.
One person complained, “I’ve had the new iPhone 15 Pro and it’s so hot, it’s too hot to hold.” One more said: “My skin aches! How is the iPhone 15 Pro Max doing?
Others, though, complain about the same problem when the phone isn’t charging, even when doing relatively easy things like checking social media.
It should be stated that the first 24 to 48 hours after setup, iPhones frequently become warm. There may be a lot happening in the background during this time, including reinstalling apps and re-indexing, particularly when setting up from a prior phone or an iCloud backup.
On the Apple forum, there are multiple entries about the iPhone 15 Pro series overheating. One customer posted a picture of their iPhone 15 next to a thermometer showing a temperature of 44C (111F). Additionally, there are posts on X and Reddit.
Any overheating issue, according to Ming-Chi Kuo, an Apple analyst at TF International Securities, was presumably brought on by “compromises” made in the phone’s design in an effort to make it lighter.
Since titanium is a poor conductor of heat, the iPhone Pro model’s capacity to dissipate heat may be compromised. Previously, Apple made their premium smartphones out of stainless steel.
According to Kuo, “the primary cause is more likely the compromises made in the thermal system design to achieve a lighter weight, such as the reduced heat dissipation area and the use of a titanium frame, which negatively impacts thermal efficiency.”
He predicted that Apple would fix the issue with software updates. The observed issue, according to Kuo, was not likely brought on by the new Taiwanese processor utilised in the Pro models.
If the issue is not resolved, the analyst warned that it might have an impact on sales of the iPhone Pro. Last week, the iPhone 15 went on sale. It costs between £799 for the entry-level model, £999 for the Pro, and £1,199 for the larger Pro Max in the UK.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max appears to be mentioned frequently in stories on X, although this may be due to selection bias: Many customers who were motivated enough to place their orders quickly enough to receive launch day delivery are likely to have chosen the flagship model.
