However, although the Oculus Quest 2 (formerly known as Meta Quest 2) offers a fantastic collection of games that you can play on a standalone device, some of the finest virtual reality games are only available on the PC.

Because there are many methods to connect your Quest 2 headset to a computer, you can make use of all of the features that PC VR has to offer without any difficulty. Furthermore, one of these solutions will not need the purchase of any equipment, allowing you to begin using it right immediately.

Learn how to connect your Oculus Quest 2 to a computer in this tutorial.

Steps

The Oculus PC application may be obtained from the Oculus website. Once the application has been downloaded and installed, launch it and follow the onscreen prompts to log in using the account connected with your Quest 2 headset. Once the program has been launched, close it and reopen it.

Connecting your Quest headset to your computer requires the use of an Oculus Link Cable. In the Quest PC app, pick “Devices” from the menu on the left side of the screen and then “Add Headset” if you do not already have a headset linked to your computer.

Once you’ve reached the “Connect your headset” prompt, you may continue by pressing Quest 2 > Continue > Link (Cable) > Continue. It’s at this point that you’ll connect the Link wire to your PC and your Quest 2 headset. When your device is connected, the app should be able to detect it. A green checkmark will appear, and the “Continue” button on this screen will become visible.

Your Oculus Quest 2 headset has now been successfully linked to your computer. It’s time to go back to playing those PC virtual reality games.

Alternatively, you may take advantage of the Air Link function in Quest 2. Open the Quest PC application, choose “Devices” from the menu on the left, and then “Add Headset” – just like you would with a Link Cable – to complete the setup.

However, this time, pick Air Link as your connection (Wireless). The next screen will tell you to go to the Experimental Features section of your Quest 2’s Settings. These characteristics aren’t nearly as hazardous as their namesake implies. Consider them to be more like functions that are still in beta testing – they haven’t been completely optimized yet and may cause minor performance drops while in use, but they won’t cause anything to malfunction.

Once you’ve enabled Air Link in your Quest 2 headset, return to the main Settings menu and choose the new Air Link option to view a list of PCs in your immediate vicinity. Check to verify whether the code on your headset and the code on your PC screen line up by pressing your PC.

If they do, put the headset back on and press the “Confirm” button to complete the connection of the devices.

The decision between a wired and a wireless PC connection is presented to you here, and which one is most appropriate for you will depend on your own preferences.

Choosing the Link Cable is your best option if you want the most solid connection available. The cable connection is fast and will not be affected by the speed of your Wi-Fi connection.

However, there are several disadvantages to utilizing the connection, including the fact that you must spend more money on an additional accessory and that you lose the independence provided by the Quest 2’s all-in-one design. If you choose to use Air Link, you can avoid these problems, but this option is only practical if you have a strong Wi-Fi connection.
